Sunflowers of Hope

An open call for Ukranian Artists in Canada

Accepting submissions Aug 1-15

Mission & Vision
Sunflowers of Hope is a traveling art exhibition that brings together the voices of Ukrainian artists who have been displaced by war and resettled in Canada. This exhibition is first and foremost about the war in Ukraine – its devastating impact, its emotional toll, and the resilience it demands from every Ukrainian.

The exhibition serves as a powerful artistic response to the trauma of war, with a particular focus on mental health and emotional recovery. As headlines fade, the real stories – of grief, exile, survival, and hope – must not be forgotten. Through art, we aim to humanize the survivors of full scale invasion, share lived experiences, and help build awareness and solidarity across communities in Canada and beyond.

At its core, Sunflowers of Hope is about giving Ukrainian artists a platform to share their truths, connect with audiences, and help others heal. Through a united artistic voice, we shine light on what it means to endure – and to rebuild.

What We’re Looking For
We are inviting Ukrainian-born artists currently living in Canada to submit their work to this exhibition. We welcome all levels of experience and all forms of creative expression.

Vyacheslav Khabaylo’s “WAYS OF WAR” photo exhibition

A powerful photography exhibit that brings the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine into sharp focus.

The war in Ukraine has displaced millions, left countless families without homes, and caused widespread devastation. This exhibit not only seeks to raise awareness about the ongoing crisis, but also to raise vital funds to support humanitarian relief efforts. All proceeds from this event will go directly to trusted organizations including FFAU and Warmth of a Winged Soul providing medical aid, shelter, food, and other crucial support to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

In April 2024 members of Firefighter Aid Ukraine along with members of Alberta K9 delivered a highly trained explosives detecting canine to the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine. While in Chernivtsi the Vice Governor of Chernivtsi Oblast gifted a series of photographs by Vyacheslav Khabaylo to the team.
